Originally formed at the Eastman School of Music, the Muse Duo is a trailblazing ensemble redefining the boundaries of classical music. Composed of award-winning guitarist Collin Holloway and dynamic pianist-composer Luke Benedict, the guitar and piano duo bridges two worlds; boldly reimagining the premise of modern chamber music while remaining grounded in the lineage of classical tradition.
Just months after their first collaboration, the Duo embarked on a national tour across the United States. Since the release of their debut album Experiments (2023), they have been featured at major chamber music festivals, sold-out recitals, and collaborative performances with a wide range of chamber ensembles.
Dedicated to expanding the repertoire for their rare instrumentation, the Muse Duo champions new compositions that celebrate both innovation and tradition. Much of their repertoire features Luke’s original works; music crafted specifically for the Duo’s distinctive voice. Recorded in New York in 2022 and released in April 2023, Experiments showcases an entirely original collection of pieces that are melodically rich, neo-classically inspired, and rhythmically bold. The album captures the genesis of the Duo’s signature sound, while generating a clear artistic direction.
A dynamic and forward-looking ensemble, the Muse Duo thrives on collaboration and artistic curiosity. Their performances often feature premiere works for unique combinations, ranging from soprano and string quartet to guitar orchestra and mixed ensembles. This includes the commission of new works for the duo from like-minded composers, such as the Boston based composer/pianist, David Leach.
Through bold artistry, a one of a kind sound world, and a convincing blend of musical personalities, the Muse Duo brings a compelling and distinctly original modern voice to the classical music landscape.
